A Day of Losses:(

Today was a sad day, to say the least. Tonight I found out some very sad news. A dear friend of mine died from plastic surgery she had a couple years ago...implants. She had a top surgeon and the "new FDA approved silicone" implants, which clearly aren't that safe!!! She kept saying she just wanted to feel better about herself. We talked day in and day out before her surgery and not even a week after, she told me she regretted doing it. She wished people could just be happy with what GOD gave them. It's not about what's on the outside, it's what's on the inside. Her whole persona changed. I can't believe what our world has come to. Wear this, wear that. Look this way, look that way! She left me a note, which I can't stop rereading. She said to spread the word that plastic surgery is not the way to go...it's too risky. She said she wishes she would've been smarter & not so superficial. To think about what a beautiful person she was before the surgery and now she isn't here to celebrate all the monumental moments that will come in life. She wishes/hopes that people will hear this story. Be proud of who you are....why are people so insecure and focused on their bodies? Where is there self-esteem? There are not words to describe how much she will be missed. How many people will miss out on knowing her as well. Part of me is angry and the other part is soooo sad. I tried to talk her out of it....I wish I would've tried harder. She had such high spirits even in her final days...she even tried to make jokes with her PSP slogan....plastic surgery is pathetic! She was a smart one, wasn't she? I guess I can say she lost her battle, but not her sense of humor.
So, just when I thought my day couldn't get any worse, it did. I received a call from my friend who lost her baby. Words can't even begin to describe her pain! Healing is the hardest part, and it takes an unknown amount of time. Make sure to tend to your needs first sweetie. The emptiness is such a hard void to even begin to fill. You and your husband are in our thoughts and prayers. Be good to yourselves, especially this holiday season. You will be blessed with your little one before you know it. We love you:)
And sure enough, the day wasn't over yet. I found out a friends father passed away of a staph infection. He was in his 50's...too young! He was a friend from high school and even a prom date. His father was a fun, entertaining and kind man. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family as well. He seems to be in good spirits and I hope he can find peace, especially through this holiday season.

Jumparoo Evy

Evy is enjoying every second in her jumparoo! It's so nice that she's finally able to use it.....she's actually abusing it:) Occassionally she jumps for what seems hours on end and next thing you know she's passed out! Yes, she exerts all her energy and falls asleep in mid-bounce! It's actually pretty hilarious! I'm sure we'll have more videos to come since she has more toys behind the scenes that she just can't use yet! Thankfully they put the ages on these things since I'd have no clue when it's appropriate for my sweet pea to climb on in:)

Evy's Waiting For SANTA:)

Well, Evy told me today that she is super duper excited for Santa to come down our chimmney:) So, we threw on her Santa hat and she jumped and jumped until she fell asleep! I'm sure we'll do it all again tomorrow:)

Annual 126 Guard Christmas Party!

Last night Durbin, Evy & I attended the annual Air Force Guard Christmas Party!!! Although we only anticipated staying an hour, Evy was on her best behavior, which was no surprise! Not a peep from our little Angel and we were having a great time so that hour turned into four! We love taking Evy everywhere with us. That's why we had a child...to spend time with her. She's our little tag-a-long:) We wouldn't have it any other way!
Now, onto the pics from the evening. It seems that the gift exchange is getting better each year. Maybe "better" isn't the most appropriate word....maybe I should say "interesting!" I don't even need to add captions. These pictures speak for themselves! If only I would've video taped the night....maybe next year:) LOL

Evy's First Giggles:)

Thank God for the video camera! It was perfect timing....we had the camera in hand as Evy giggled for the first time. You can call it laughing if you want, or even make up a word, but it is definitely a monumental moment for her and of course for us! I missed the first couple "giggles," which were probably her best, but I'm positive there isn't a sole out there that could say that these aren't pretty hilarious! She's so stinkin' cute....we can't give her enough kisses:)

Another Halloween!!

These are a couple more shots from Evy's 3 month pictures with Kelly Manno. Evy couldn't decide whether to be a pumpkin or a strawberry so we did both:) Every kid should have 2 costumes for their 1st Halloween, right:)

Evy's 3 Month Pictures

Here we are again....another photoshoot with Evy:) She sure loves the camera. We had Kelly Manno take more pictures of Evy for her 3 month birthday. It was a gorgeous day so we all went to Faust Park where Kelly managed to again find the most amazing places to shoot. It is truly crazy how much she has changed in just 1 month. We'll have her next months pics up as soon as I get them back. Maybe we should slow down on the pictures....NO way! Monthly pics are so important the first year of their life. You can never get these moments back. Plus, I just love this stinkers BIG blue eyes!!!

Evy's 1st Halloween

Although I'm a little behind, here are a few pictures of Evy on her 1st Halloween! I'm searching high and low to find the other family ones so hopefully I'll get those up here soon. Evy loved being a little pumpkin. She did so well! It's crazy that her outfit weighed almost as much as she did:)

A "PLUS" SIGN 365 DAYS AGO!

A year ago today Durbin & I surprisingly found out we were pregnant!!! That "+" sign surely put a smile on our faces. We were thrilled to say the least, but shocked that it happened so quickly. One try and there we were....parents to be:) I can't believe that throughout the past 365 days I have had so many wonderful things happen. It truly amazes me that the time flies by so quickly. Here were are.....a new FAMILY! My pregnancy was absolutely wonderful...easy as pie! Now we are here enjoying every second with our little Princess! She's getting so big. It's crazy just how wonderful the love is that a parent has for their child. It is without a doubt the most wonderful love in the world. Durbin & I are truly blessed to have such wonderul lives and now we can share that with our new daughter! We love you Evy!
Today is also my Dad's birthday! So overall, November 7th is an amazingly special day! We knew he wanted little granddaugher so we're so happy we could give him his birthday gift....a little early:) Happy birthday Dad!

33 and Thankful:)

A couple friends and I were chatting the other day about how much we have to be thankful for in our lives. So we decided to make a list .... relating to our age:) So, as small as some of these things are, I am thankful for so much in my life! They are clearly in no particular order!

Here goes.....

33 Things I am Thankful For:

1) The most wonderful parents in the world...still married...39 years and going strong!

2) The most amazing husband. He's perfect for me in every way

Lunch with the McDonald's

Today Evy and I met Trish and her two kids, Luke & Kate for Evy's first Mexican lunch:) It was so great seeing them again. Trish came to visit in the hospital the day Evy was born, on her 1 month bday & now today....we miss her:) I can't believe just how big Luke & Kate are now. Luke kept saying how he loves baby Evy & Kate offered her some chips and salsa!:) We love having the McDonald's in our lives and can't wait for all the future outing with the little squirts:)
ohhh....and Joe, by the way, the MIZZOU bib you gave Evy today is now her favorite diaper:) This is war! U of I runs in this household! Booo on Mizzou!

They were all so well behaved and such cute little young ladies:) We can't wait to have more playdates! It still amazes me that we all had little girls.....it must be payback time:)
